    1. Open door is the tale of a mysterious legacy that our main character has been on the run from for what seems forever, even if she didn't know it. And even if it's not really the legacy but the people involved she was running from, the same people she should be definitely afraid of. Our main character Carin, is quite lovable. She has no desire to cross her mean aunt, just trying to make a buck, making her relatable to a lot of readers. The little twists and turns along the way definitely kept me [...]

    2. Carin is thrust into a summer "job" with her Aunt Helen and from the get go, you just know something is off. Within the first couple chapters, you learn that Carin has found a scrapbook that her mother wants her to hide from her aunt. The explanation as to why is not revealedd I want to know, damnit!!! Ms. Locke always kept me on my toes. There were some very interesting twists and turns in this book, as well, as some "oh no she di'int," moments. I loved the way that the story of the Legacy was [...]

    3. This book is amazing. I didn't want to put it down, but of course surgery got in the way. I could not wait to pick it back up. It is one I definitely recommend. Its not a one time read, with the magic, mystery and suspense I'm sure I will learn something new each time. I am very excited and impatiently waiting for the second and third books. I am so very glad I found this just doing a simple search on my kindle and Christine Locke will absolutely be added as a favorite author!

    4. I have never quite encountered a book like this. Locke leaves much to the imagination, and let’s face it: she strings along her readers! I had no idea where Carin was headed, or what lay ahead for her. Her book is as much a mystery as Carin’s life has been up to this point.I couldn’t ever quite figure out how old Carin was from reading the novel, but I learned quickly that even though she was shipped off to work for her “aunt” for the summer at her aunt’s newly-inherited mansion and [...]

    5. 2.75 StarsA bit slow and drawn out in parts, but still enjoyable. If the setting had been better detailed, I feel this could have easily been a 4 star book. We get to hear about all the beautiful gardens and rooms found on the estate, but we're very rarely told what they look like. The magic is interesting, but again falls a little flat in the details department. Carin was a wonderful lead character. In so many YA novels they tend to be TSTL. Carin is smart enough not to take everything at face [...]
